Fusion Log – Assembly binding log

Every now and then I need to use the fuslogvw.exe (Fusion Log viewer) to check the assembly binding logs. There are many pages talking about it, but I haven’t found yet any, which contains on one page all information what I need. I will always extend it when the need arises :)

  • Regedit keys to be added (partly from here):
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Fusion
    Add:
DWORD EnableLog set value to 1
DWORD ForceLog set value to 1
DWORD LogFailures set value to 1
DWORD LogResourceBinds set value to 1
String LogPath set value to folder for logs including the backslash (e.g. C:\FusionLog\)
  • The path to the Fusion log viewer is C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v8.0A\bin\NETFX 4.0 Tools\fuslogvw.exe and you will need
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v8.0A\bin\NETFX 4.0 Tools\1033\flogvwrc.dll
